d’Arta UK has evolved quickly since the joint venture began with Yorkshire Greens in 2018, when the construction for the new plant began. This was d’Arta’s third production plant and how d’Arta UK was formed, thanks to the well-known Yorkshire Peas. The plant has since added more lines and now processes carrots, parsnips, broccoli, and a honey coating machine, with future plans to expand.

Employing more than 900 people worldwide and export products to more than 100 countries. The team in Driffield for d’Arta UK is fairly small in comparison to the wider business, however, produces mighty results. This Assistant Accountant role is a newly created position and is a pivotal role in supporting the Finance Manager for Yorkshire Greens.

Assistant Accountant 

​

Main Duties: 

Reporting to the Finance & Administration Manager at Yorkshire Greens, you will assist in managing, processing and troubleshooting various accounts and transactions, dealing with external suppliers, ensuring all accounts and payments are up to date, as well as carrying out general office administration duties in support of key members of the business operational team.

The role will involve supporting the Transport Manager at d’Arta UK and organising all day-to-day administration related to transportation.

You will also provide assistance to the other companies working from the same office by preparing and processing a wide variety of accounting transactions.
 

Responsibilities:

Purchase Ledger & Stock Control

  • Assisting with the general stock control throughout the business, maintaining supplier lists, minimum stock levels and accurate stock valuation.

  • Raising Purchase Orders and placing orders with suppliers.

  • Day to day maintenance of the purchase order ledger, ensuring that orders are properly authorised working closely with the team at headquarters.

  • Receiving in deliveries and reconciling to the ledger

Accounting

  • Assist with preparation and posting of VAT returns.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation.

  • Work with head office (Belgium) in checking period end report accuracy and reconciling intercompany ledgers.

  • Manage the fixed assets of the business including newly acquired transport vehicles.

  • Ensuring that the company is meeting UK legislation requirements for accounts processing and reporting.

  • Monitoring of financial and transport KPI’s and report to head office.

 

Invoice Administration

  • Managing import records and reconciling with month end postponed VAT reports if appropriate.

  • Processing of supplier invoices and posting to accounting software.

  • Liaising with the Transport Manager and monitoring of daily transports provided by the company and identifying to which company the transport should be charged and at what rate.

  • Invoicing of transportation.

  • Intercompany invoicing.


Payroll & Expenses

  • Daily management of the timesheets for transport staff.

  • Assist in producing weekly / monthly reports for payroll and making monthly bank payments of wages.

  • Monitoring and processing of staff expenses and importing to main accounting software.

 

Supporting HR Administration

  • Issuing of new starter forms.

  • On-boarding new employees for d’Arta UK.

  • Maintenance of core staff database and pay rates.

  • Support the senior management team with administrative tasks to include management minutes / report typing / trend analysis.

 

Systems Used

  • QuickBooks

  • Sage 50

  • As of 1st April 2024, the whole d’Arta Group will be migrating onto SAP.

The Successful Candidate:

  • As the successful Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in assisting with communications between d’Aarta head office and Yorkshire Greens, especially in relation to meeting customer requirements and avoiding shortfalls.​
     

  • The role will suit someone who is agile, proactive and enjoys problem solving and in order for this role to be a success, you must have exceptional communication skills.
     

  • It would be beneficial if you have an accounting qualification, such as AAT level 3 and above, part qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA, but must have experience working in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Package Details â€‹

  • Salary: circa £30,000 - £40,000
