Producing a diverse range of technical injection moulded products for blue chip household name clients across a range of market sectors including automotive, HVAC, filtration, and technical plastics.
Over the past four years, both the Hull site and the Group have grown significantly, and Group turnover has now surpassed £35 million by gaining more market share through acquisitions, investing in the factory infrastructure, and diversifying their product range.
Last year the business celebrated its 30th anniversary and Advanced Plastics Ltd remain the preferred partner for their existing long-term clients and the obvious choice for potential new customers. Over the past 30 years, they have adapted a unique service offering which offers their customers a full end to end process, starting with the design and development, right through to manufacturing at the highest quality.
In June 2022, Advanced Plastics Group Ltd acquired Protool Group. The Advanced Plastics Group is now strategically placed to service customers locally in three key regions of the UK offering a combined capacity across 68 injection moulding machines. With their combined heritage, industry reputation, technical capability, and broad market sector coverage the group represent a major player within the UK plastics industry.
The three companies located in Hull, Fareham and Manchester will maintain their current identities and strong market positioning, with the newly created Financial Controller position sitting in Advanced Plastics Ltd in Hull.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Group Finance Director, your duties & responsibilities will include:

Taking overall control and responsibility for all aspects of the finance department, financial transactions and accountancy matters including audit systems/ month end processes and preparation of monthly management accounts and the full year end returns.

Develop and oversee the policies and procedures for financial control and reporting that meet current and future business requirements as well as relevant regulations affecting the organisation. This includes being responsible for maintaining the Ledgers; setting up new cost centres and departments when required; ensuring reconciliation of control accounts; ensuring correct allocation of expenditure to cost centres etc.

Work closely with the senior management team to improve and grow the businesses formulating financial strategies, business plans and annual budgets / financial and cashflow forecasts.

Be the Operational Finance lead on site, providing accurate weekly and monthly financial reports (i.e. daily & weekly dashboards/ management accounts/ variance to budget analysis and appropriate commentary and recommendations) to the senior management team, assisting the business in understanding real time financial results.

To have the overall control for the cash management including the management of all company bank accounts and credit cards.

Manage, train and develop the finance team, consisting of a Ledger Clerk and Financial Analyst. Ensuring that the team is ready and capable to support the business, keeping them informed at all times on company strategy, policies and any changes in legislation. This will include undertaking quarterly one to one meetings to review the business plans and agree any relevant personal development plans.

Contribute fully to the development of the strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
